The Chambers of Commerce and Industry are public institutions in charge of representing the general interests of industry and commerce. The Essonne Chamber of Commerce and Industry was set up in 1899. Companies from industry and the service sector along with shopkeepers elect their representatives to the CCI every 5 years.

The CCI Essonne defends the interests of the companies in the department, represents the companies to the department administrative authorities. It has set objectives: to develop the economy and encourage employment by developing the Essonne and its potential.
